Today is my birthday. I am now 55 years old.  What does that mean to me? It means I get a well-earned 10% discount!

Life here on planet Earth does fly by quickly and I can clearly remember thinking that I'd never want to be old.  Youth seemed like so much fun... at the time.  Now that I'm here, or at the chronological beginning of "here", this place is fun, too, in a different way.

I am much more powerful than I was in my twenties or thirties; much more confident.  You would think that the "aging woman in society" factor might have a negative effect, but just the opposite.   All of that surface fluff ... "Am I pretty enough?", "Am I thin enough?", "Are my clothes fashionable enough?" ... Who CARES?????    

I am no longer "competing for a mate" so women (and men) can now relax around me and we can truly develop friendships based on matters of substance.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life and from where I stand now, with my eyes wide open, I can see that the best is yet to come.
